The Annual Integrated Economic Survey (AIES) collects annual establishment data on key economic statistics, such as employment, payroll, first quarter payroll and receipts, by industry, which uses the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). The Annual Integrated Economic Survey collected limited NAPCS data in survey year 2023 and 2024. Collection was limited to the manufacturing sector, while the service sectors collected limited product data, most of which differ by NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) industry and do not align with NAPCS products. This experimental product¹ produces model-based estimates of total receipts by NAPCS classification for all sectors, including manufacturing and service, covered in the AIES. A more comprehensive overview of NAPCS data is collected by the Economic Census (EC), which is administered every five years in years ending in 2 or 7. The model projects the 2022 Economic Census NAPCS broad-line distributions onto AIES totals. For more methodology information, see technical documentation below.
