The SIPP is the premier source of information on income and program participation. These SIPP tables provide national data about the receipt of social security, TANF, SNAP, WIC, SSI, retirement income, unemployment insurance, free- and reduced-price school meals, VA benefits, and the receipt of child support. Program receipt is presented at both individual and household levels, and by a variety of demographic characteristics.
These tables slightly underestimate Medicaid receipt due to reliance on the Medicaid Screener variable (EMD_SCRNR). For more details, refer to the Health Insurance User Note posted with the 2021 data: https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/sipp/tech-documentation/user-notes/2021-usernotes/scrnr-health-ins-var-vs-recod.html. This error was corrected in the tables starting in calendar year 2020.
Note: The following link takes you to the 508 Compliant version of the tables below that are available for screen readers.
