This page provides links to Census 2000 gazetteer files for counties, county subdivisions (minor civil divisions/census county divisions), places, census tracts, and ZIP Code tabulation areas (ZCTAs) for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The files are extractions from the Census 2000 Summary File 1 (SF1).
The Census Tract file contains data for all 2000 Census Tracts in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as of the January 1, 2000. The file is tab-delimited text, one line per record. There are 66,304 records.
The counties file contains data for primary legal divisions or statistically equivalent entities in the 50 states, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as of Census 2000. The file is tab-delimited text, one line per record. There are 3,219 records. Some records contain special characters.
The county subdivision file contains data for all county subdivisions in the 50 states, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as of Census 2000. The file is ASCII text, one line per record. There are 36,351 records. Some records contain special characters.
The places file contains data for all incorporated places and census designated places (CDPs) in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as of the January 1, 2000. The file is ASCII text, one line per record. There are 25,375 records. Some records contain special characters.
The ZIP Code Tabulation Area file contains data for all ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as of the January 1, 2000. The file is ASCII text, one line per record. There are 33,233 records.
