1930 Census: Volume 4. Occupations, by States. Reports by States, Giving Statistics for Cities of 25,000 or More

This volume incorporates the series of advance occupation statistics bulletins. After the introduction, 57 tables are presented in the United States Summary. Following this, statistics for each state are presented in a series of 25 tables, grouped under six main headings:

  1. Sex and occupation of gainful workers
  2. Color and nativity of gainful workers
  3. Age of gainful workers
  4. Males and females in selected occupations
  5. Marital condition of gainfully occupied women
  6. Children in gainful occupations

A Note on Language

Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate.
