The principal tables present statistics on number of large-scale farms by type and by State, and with comparisons by five measures of size of business. Individual type of farm tables are included for the following: truck farms, fruit farms, cotton farms, crop-specialty farms, dairy farms, stock ranches, poultry farms, cash-grain farms, animal-specialty farms, and feed lots. One table is devoted to the organization of individual large-scale farms.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
