This report for the calendar year 1935 is the thirty-sixth annual report on MortalIty StatIstics published by the Bureau of the census. It relates to the United States, the Territory or Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The data are compiled from transcripts of certificates of death received from the registration authorities of the States and other areas. It makes available detailed figures concerning deaths in individual States and in cities with a population of 10,000 or more, includlng classifications by sex, race, and age, and by cause of death according to the International Classification of Causes of Death.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
