In October 1971, there were 61. l million persons 3 to 34 years old enrolled in school at all levels. There were 4.3 million in nursery school and kindergarten, 33.5 million in elementary school, 15.2 million in high school and 8.1 million in college. These figures are based on results of the Current Population Survey conducted in October 1971 by the Bureau of the Census.
