This report looks at the implications of population aging for Africa as a region, sub-regions, and countries at present and in the future. It provides comprehensive and up-to-date statistics on current and projected future population aging trends and patterns in Africa and sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), and compares them with those of other world regions and within Africa. Drawing data from Census Bureau's International Data Base and other international organizations as well as censuses and surveys from African countries, this report provides analysis of the demographic, economic, social, and health characteristics of the older African population, with a focus on SSA.
