This report examines parental leave and employment patterns in the United States using data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP). It explores the types of leave taken and examines shifts in parental employment surrounding the birth of a first child. The analysis includes both first-time mothers and fathers, providing insights into differences in work behaviors and leave arrangements of parents.
