This report details the results of 60 cognitive interviews which were conducted during the first round of cognitive testing for the Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC). The cognitive interviews tested the ASEC instrument which includes questions about health insurance coverage, medical out of pocket expenses, moving, earned income, income sources and amounts, poverty, and child care. The instrument and tests were divided into two sections, broadly categorized as the “health insurance” and “income” sections. Health insurance includes the medical out of pocket expenses and moving questions. Income includes the remaining sections.
