Annual Survey of Manufactures Benchmark: General Statistics and Value of Product Shipments: 2008-2011

Press Release Number: CB16-TPS.90

APRIL 12, 2016 — This release includes two tables: general statistics and value of products shipments, for the years 2008-2011, based on the 2007 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).

General Statistics presents data at the two- through six-digit NAICS levels on employment, payroll, cost of materials, shipments and receipts for services, value added and inventories.

Value of Product Shipments presents product shipment statistics at the six-digit NAICS level and seven-digit product class level.

The data provided in the tables reflect the benchmarking of the Annual Survey of Manufacturers to the latest Economic Census results. Benchmarking is performed to produce a consistent time series and attempts to reduce the effects of sampling and nonsampling errors in the original series. The Annual Survey of Manufactures were last benchmarked to the Census for years 1988-91 using the results from the 1992 Census.
