Aidan Smith

Acting Chief, Economic Indicators Division

Aidan Smith currently serves as acting chief of the U.S. Census Bureau’s Economic Indicators Division, where he oversees 12 of the 13 Principal Federal Economic Indicators (PFEIs) produced. 

Previously, he was assistant division chief of the Construction Indicator Programs, supervising the New Residential Construction, New Residential Sales, and Construction Spending indicators.

Since joining the Census Bureau in 2004, Smith has held multiple positions in the Economic Directorate supporting the Annual Retail Trade, Quarterly Services and Monthly Wholesale Trade surveys. 

Smith has bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and economics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
