Lewis Liu is a public affairs specialist in the Public Information Office, fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, who will be working in multi-cultural outreach as part of his responsibilities.
Liu joined the Census Bureau in October 2019. As a partnership coordinator at New York Regional Census Center (NYRCC), Liu led a team of partnership specialists in community outreach promoting the 2020 decennial census in northeastern New York. Liu was a member of the NYRCC Partnership Management Team that received the Bronze Medal for 2019-2020. After the decennial census, Liu joined the New York Regional Office (NYRO) in May 2021 as a regional survey manager to help launch the Field Quality Monitoring program and improve the existing Quality Assurance program. Liu received two Special Act Awards for his contribution to NYRO.
In October 2022, Liu joined the Administrative and Customer Services Division (ACSD) as section chief for the Forms Design branch. He implemented various initiatives that have helped the team improve the design process, quality control, project management, collaboration and customer communication, resulting in significant improvements in production, turnaround time and customer satisfaction.
Prior to joining the Census Bureau, Liu had a 22-year career with GMAC International Operations where he held various management positions in the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Lewis brings a wealth of experiences to the Census Bureau in operation management, business development, customer services, data analytics, risk control and quality assurance.
Liu holds a B.S. degree in Computer Information Science from Brooklyn College (CUNY), and a M.B.A. degree in Finance from New York University. Lewis spends his free time with his wife (Jenny), son (Lewis Jr.) and daughter (Laura) and two bunnies (Bobby & Sunny).
