Income Statistics Branch Chief, Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division, U.S. Census Bureau

Mike King oversees the U.S. Census Bureau’s Income Statistics Branch, which is responsible for processing, analyzing and publishing income estimates from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement and the American Community Survey. His branch also conducts research on data quality, income measurement and the incorporation of administrative records with survey data.

King has worked at the Census Bureau since 2020. He previously held positions in the Program Participation and Income Transfers Branch, where he published working papers and other products on social safety net participation using data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation.

He has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Montana and a doctorate in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
