Stephanie Galvin is assistant division chief, Social Characteristics, in the Census Bureau’s Social, Economic, and Housing Statistics Division. She oversees subject matter experts responsible for collecting, reviewing and distributing education, social stratification, family demography, domestic migration and commuting statistics for several Census Bureau surveys. Her area is also responsible for the relationship to householder data on the decennial census. Previously, she served as the chief of the Foreign-Born Population Branch and an analyst in the Education and Social Stratification Branch, where she authored numerous reports and papers. She earned a doctorate in sociology from the University of Washington.
