NOV. 20, 2019 — The U.S. Census Bureau released the 2019 CPS ASEC Geographic Mobility detailed table package and updates to historical tables and historical graphs. Geographic mobility and migration both refer to the movement of people from one location of residence to another. These national- and regional-level estimates are from the 2019 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).
The 2018 to 2019 one-year migration tables provide estimates of geographic mobility, including detailed information about different types of moves completed in the past year, characteristics of people who moved and the main reason for moving. The updated migration historical tables and historical graphs include selected statistics extending back to 1948.
The Census Bureau collects, produces and publishes a range of statistics on geographic mobility and migration using multiple data sources. For more information about these data sources and the types of estimates they produce, see the Migration/Geographic Mobility page.
