NOV. 9, 2022 — The U.S. Census Bureau today announced its co-hosting of the Web3 Hackathon 2.0 Technical Competition in collaboration with the Puerto Rico Blockchain Trade Association (PRBTA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) - Blockchain Initiative and Puerto Rican non-profit Evolving Space.
A collaboration with the Census Bureau’s program The Opportunity Project (TOP) from Census Open Innovations Labs, the Web3 Hackathon 2.0 challenges civic hackers to design and develop products, platforms and software solutions with blockchain integrations to support infrastructure, economic growth and quality of life in Puerto Rico.
Participants will have the opportunity to advance Puerto Rico’s sustainability efforts by creating blockchain-based solutions using their own or established protocols. Teams will present their prototypes to industry experts and other stakeholders for the opportunity to demo their solution at PRBTA’s December conference.

Interested registrants who live on the island can go to Engine-4 Coworking Space in Bayamón, Puerto Rico beginning Nov. 11 from 4:30 pm to 9 pm. There will also be at least three onsite meetup opportunities for teams to consult with product advisors before the hackathon deadline.
