MAY 23, 2024 — The U.S. Census Bureau today released the Community Resilience Estimates (CRE) for Puerto Rico, including 2021 and 2022 estimates and a new equity supplement, which merges the CRE for Puerto Rico variables with data from the Puerto Rico Community Survey (PRCS) 5-year estimates and 2020 Census.
The CRE for Puerto Rico comes with an easy-to-use interactive mapping tool and profiles visualization at the commonwealth, municipio and census tract geographic levels to provide users with an easy-to-use interface to quickly access key community statistics about social vulnerability and equity in Puerto Rico.
Social vulnerability is measured based on 10 PRCS indicators:
In addition, the CRE for Puerto Rico interactive mapping tool now includes National Risk Index data from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which estimates an area’s likelihood of experiencing different types of natural disasters (e.g., landslides, coastal flooding) and external stressors. Data from the CRE for Puerto Rico are also available in the Census API for the first time.
