APRIL 8, 2024 — The U.S. Census Bureau today announced the winners of the second phase of the StatVentures Supply Chain Challenge.

This challenge invited participants to propose new ways to provide more timely, granular and robust supply chain data. During Phase 2, winning teams submitted implementation roadmaps explaining how their idea would work to capture new or improved supply chain data on manufacturing, imports and exports, transportation and delivery of goods, and other key components of global supply chains.

Phase 2 winners are:

• Bunting Labs, Inc: Leveraging Earth Observation to Track Global Supply Chain Health.
• Made in Manchester: An Open Alternative for Online Commerce.
• Transautomata, LLC: Real-Time Supply Chain Risk Monitoring System.
• Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness (CREC): Regional Insights for Emerging Supply Chain Threats.
• Genlogs Corporation: Automated Supply Chain Intelligence Gathering via GenLogs Trident Sensors. 
• Mongata: Enhancing Resilience: Integrating GPM Data for Informed Supply Chain Decision Making.
• Process & Strategy Solutions, PLLC: Capture of U.S. B2B Reverse Supply Chain Activity.
• Refashiond OS, Inc.: Building Data Connectivity Across U.S. Manufacturing Supply Chains.

Phase 2 submissions were evaluated on overall quality, feasibility, value proposition, and innovation. The winning roadmaps represent a diverse set of ideas including hardware, software and data analytics using many different approaches. The selected ideas have the potential to generate new data on reverse supply chains, manufacturing supply chains, e-commerce, and freight movement; better leverage satellite imagery; increase real-time monitoring capabilities; integrate climate and environmental data for supply chain insights, and more.

The eight winning teams will receive monetary prizes with a total value of $350,000. Winners will also have an opportunity to advance to Phase 3, where they will be challenged to test their roadmaps and produce real data with an opportunity to pursue the adoption of their data, method or technology by the Census Bureau.

StatVentures is an initiative of Census Open Innovation Labs (COIL) aimed at enhancing data-collection methods through new technologies and outside collaborations.
