SEPT. 29, 2025 — The U.S. Census Bureau today released new data tables on the foreign-born population by generation from the 2024 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).
The new table package provides social and economic information on the employment status, education, household income, poverty status, race, age, and sex of the first generation (those who are foreign-born), second generation (those with at least one foreign-born parent), and third-and-higher generation (those with two U.S. native parents) population living in the United States.
The Current Population Survey is one of the nation’s oldest, largest and most well-recognized surveys. In addition to being the primary source of monthly labor force statistics, it is used to collect data for a variety of other studies to keep the nation informed about the economic and social well-being of its people.
