Partnership with National Telecommunications and Information Administration

The Census Bureau is working with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to gather and analyze federal data that informs the implementation of two major pieces of legislation – the Digital Equity Act and the ACCESS BROADBAND Act. These legislative acts aim to expand broadband internet access and adoption to unserved and underserved populations.

Together, the agencies have developed two interactive data tools:

1) The Digital Equity Act Population Viewer displays new estimates that allow users to locate and understand unserved and underserved populations.

2) The ACCESS BROADBAND Dashboard consolidates multiple data sources in a mapping tool to enable researchers to assess changes in economic conditions based on changes in broadband availability and adoption, including those changes resulting from federal investments.

Below are links to the interactive data tools and supplemental data that correspond with each legislative act.
