Join us on Monday, June 23, for a webinar covering disclosure avoidance research plans for the 2030 Census. The research focuses on designing and improving the statistical safeguards we'll use to protect the confidentiality of the public's census responses in the published data products.
These safeguards, which we call disclosure avoidance, are critically important in helping us meet our confidentiality obligations under Title 13, while also ensuring the quality and usability of the statistical products we publish.
The U.S. Census Bureau strives to make each census better than the last, adapting and enhancing our methods, tools, and processes to improve on the prior decade’s experience.
Building on the lessons learned from the 2020 Census, we’ve been following the advances in disclosure avoidance research and methodologies and using that to inform how to approach disclosure avoidance for the 2030 Census.
We’ve created a research plan that supports gathering helpful, practical feedback from our stakeholders. This feedback will guide the Census Bureau’s final decisions about how the 2030 Census system is designed and put into place. The plan is guided by a series of principles we recently developed to help decision-makers for all Census Bureau data products assess and choose disclosure avoidance methodologies from among the many options available.
