The goal of this project was to examine factors contributing to health disparities during the COVID-19 pandemic. We accomplished this by leveraging the Census Bureau’s existing data from surveys, decennial censuses, and administrative records.
In collaboration with academic partners, we utilized this linked data to examine the causes and consequences of racial disparities in the pandemic’s impact on mortality and other health outcomes. This research included a focus on understanding geographic differences in racial disparities and the role of social and environmental factors (e.g., income, education, and occupation) in explaining these disparities.
