A respondent may identify a cohabiting partner, but the registered domestic partnership variable may have a missing value, instead of appearing as a non-registered domestic partnership. In other cases, a respondent may not identify a cohabiting partner, but the registered domestic partnership variable may be filled out, instead of being blank.
