2020 SIPP: Inconsistent Relationships Among People

There are a small number of cases with inconsistent relationships among people within a household. When comparing RREL values of household members in relation to 1) other household members, 2) relationship information from other months, 3) interview month relationship to householder information (ERELRPE), or 4) the parent (EPNPAR1, EPNPAR2, RPNPAR1_EHC, RPNPAR2_EHC), spouse (EPNSPOUSE, EPNSPOUS_EHC), or cohabiting partner (EPNCOHAB, EPNCOHAB_EHC) pointers, these inconsistencies may become apparent. Other associated relationship variables including the child vectors (RPNCHILD1-19 and RCHTYP1-19) and family recode variables (e.g., RFRELU18WT2) may also be inconsistent. Data users should be aware of these cases when using relationship information during analysis.
