Since the 2014 SIPP Panel, SIPP asks respondents whether they spent any nights in a hospital during the prior calendar year, and if so, the number of nights and the reasons that they entered the hospital. Beginning with 2021 SIPP, a new reason for hospitalization was added ‘”To be treated for COVID-19 (suspected or diagnosed), or complications from COVID-19”’. This new hospitalization reason variable is EHREAS_COR.
