American Community Survey (ACS)

Data from 2000 to the present for nursery & preschool enrollment for children 3 & older for the U.S., states, metropolitan area, & specific geographic areas.
Current Population Survey (CPS)

Data on child care are available from 1974 to the present. Information for school enrollment (including nursery school) can be found under school enrollment.
Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP)

Primary Topic: Income

Data from 1984 to the present on child care costs and arrangements. It's the only source the Census Bureau uses to collect child care information from families.
Economic Census

Primary Topic: Business and Owner Characteristics

Economic Census Data provides periodic and comprehensive data about service establishments (including child care establishments) and their activities.
