Mark Markovic

Chief Information Officer (Acting), U.S. Census Bureau

Mark Markovic is the Acting Chief Information Officer of the U.S. Census Bureau.

In this role, Mark provides executive leadership focused on aligning enterprise technology strategy with core business objectives enabling the Census Bureau to fulfill its mission as the nation’s leading source of quality data about its people and economy.

Mark also serves as the chief of the Decennial Contracts and Execution Office (DCEO), where he leads pre-award contract activities and contract execution for major Census Bureau programs, including the 2030 Census, the Geographic Support Program, and the American Community Survey. Prior to this role, he served as a program manager in DCEO, overseeing the Field IT Deployment and the Decennial Device-as-a-Service Government Program Management Offices., ensuring that critical technology and infrastructure needs were met for decennial operations. Previously, Mark served as assistant division chief in both the Systems Support Division and the LAN Technology Support Office. Across these roles, he made notable contributions to enterprise IT service delivery and modernization efforts.

Mark holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics with a concentration in computer science from Salisbury University; a master of engineering science degree in computer science from Loyola University Maryland; and a master’s certificate in project management from The George Washington University.
