The Annual Survey of Public Employment & Payroll (ASPEP) provides data on the number of state and local civilian government employes and their gross monthly payroll for March of the survey year. The U.S. Congress, federal agencies, state governments, other local governments, educational and research organizations, and the general public utilize the data.
Annual survey data consist of state and local government full- and part-time employment, full-time equivalent employment, and month of March payroll statistics by government function.
