2012

This page provides links to the 2012 gazetteer files for counties, county subdivisions (minor civil divisions/census county divisions), places, census tracts, congressional districts (112th), American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian Areas, school districts (elementary, secondary, and unified), state legislative districts (upper and lower), ZIP Code tabulation areas (ZCTAs), and urban areas for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Notes:

  • All national files are in compressed format.
  • Files are tab-delimited text, one line per record unless other noted.
  • Population and housing unit counts are not included in these files.
  • Data are available for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico as of January 1, 2012 unless otherwise noted.
  • The Island Areas (American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) are not included in these files.
  • The geography in these files matches the 2012 American Community Survey data (that is, as of January 1, 2012).
  • Because of changes in boundaries and entity names, as well as the creation of new entities, and the dissolution of others, users should not expect to find a "one-to-one" relationship between the entity names and codes in these files and the comparable 2010 Census, Census 2000 or 1990 Census files.
