What are the population thresholds for the American Community Survey (ACS)?


The population thresholds for American Community Survey (ACS) estimates are:

  • 1-year estimates: Geographic areas with a population of 65,000 or more
  • 1-year Supplemental Estimates: Geographic areas with populations of 20,000 or more
  • 5-year estimates: All areas regardless of population size, down to the census tract and block group level.
