Why am I receiving phone calls from the U.S. Census Bureau about the American Community Survey (ACS)?

Our telephone representatives may attempt to call you if you complete the survey, but clarification is needed on the information you provided. Telephone representatives may also contact you if you have previously left a voice message on our Telephone Questionnaire Assistance line (1-800-354-7271) requesting a call back or help with completing the ACS.

Other instances you may receive a phone call include if you completed the paper questionnaire and have more than 5 household members to provide data for as the paper questionnaire limits responses for only 5 individuals, and telephone representatives also reach out to verify vacant residences based on details shared from the initial response to the ACS.

If someone has contacted you about the American Community Survey and you would like to verify that the phone call you received was legitimate, go to www.census.gov/verify.
