1890 Census: Volume 10. Report on Indians Taxed and Indians Not Taxed in the United States (except Alaska)

This volume from the 1890 census includes the following information.

  • Indian population in U. S. prior to 1890.
  • Indians by sex and by States and Territories on and off reservations;
  • Indians by stock and tribe;
  • Indians on reservations—sex,  children under 1 year of age, number wearing citizens' dress, ability to read and speak English, children of school age, school accommodations;
  • vital and social statistics;
  • marital and criminal statistics.

  • policy and administration of Indian affairs;
  • condition of Indians in each State and Territory;
  • Indian wars and their costs, and civil expenditures for Indians;
  • depredation claims;
  • liabilities of the United States to Indians;
  • legal status of Indians;
  • lands and reservations: Crops, stock, and miscellaneous products of Indian labor.
