This volume contains a selection of the most essential statistics collected at the census of 1930 for population, including occupations, families, and unemployment; for agriculture, including type of farm, irrigation, and drainage; for manufactures; for mines and quarries; and for wholesale and retail distribution, construction, and hotels.
These statistics are for the continental United States, comprising the 48 States and the District of Columbia. A separate section gives condensed tables for outlying territories and possessions.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
