Veterans of World War II have returned in large numbers to the high school classroom or to the college campus, either alone or with their families , to take advantage of educational op- portunities offered them under the "GI Bill of Rights." In October , 1946 , veteran males comprised three-fourths of the male schoo l  popu- lation, 18 to 29 years of age, according t o  esti- mates issued today by J. C. Capt, Director, Bureau o f the Census , Departmen t of Commerce. These statistics were obtained in connection with the Bureau's monthly cross-section survey of the civilian population for October, 1946.
