Estimates of the Civilian Population By Broad Age Groups, For States and Selected Outlying Areas: July 1, 1957

P25-194

Abstract

The estimates given in this report are consistent with the estimates of the total population of States published in No. 186 of this series and with the estimates of the population of the United states by age published in No. 193, but they are not entirely consistent with the estimates of the population of states by broad age groups for earlier postcensal years published in Nos. 130, 151, and 172.  Estimates of the civilian population of the States and of Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico in five broad age groups for July 1, 1957, are presented in this report. These ages are: under 5 years, 5 to 17 years, 18 to 44 years, 45 to 64 years, and 65 years and over. In addition, the report presents estimates for the age groups 14 years and over, 18 years and over, and 21 years and over.
