Market Absorption of Apartments: 1983 Quarterly Absorptions

H130-83-Q4

Introduction

Privately financed, nonsubsidized, unfurnished apartments completed during the July-September 1983 quarter were 75 percent absorbed (seasonally adjusted) 3 months after their completion. This is up 10 percentage points from the 3-month seasonally adjusted rate for apartments completed during the second quarter of 1983, but is about the same as the seasonally adjusted rate of 72 percent for third quarter 1982 completions. Apartments which have been on the market for 9 months, those completed during January-March 1983, were 90 percent absorbed.
