The purposes of this Factfinder are to—

• List guides, directories, catalogs, and indexes to Census Bureau and related statistics.
• Indicate compilations where a wide variety of data, both current and historical, are brought together.
• Identify sources of information not covered in the statistical reports themselves, such as how to use the data.
• Reference general background information about past and present data-collection and processing techniques, the choice of census questions, and other aspects of the Census Bureau's operations in greater detail than found elsewhere in this Factfinder series.
• Tell where all of these materials may be found.

Because of space limitations, this Factfinder does not list compilations of international data, research conference or advisory committee proceedings, or technical or working papers. Most of these that are current and relevant to the Census Bureau are abstracted in the Census Catalog and Guide (see p. 2).
