To get the first information from Census 2000—total population, population by race and Hispanic or Latino origin, and voting age population—look for the Redistricting Summary (Public Law 94-171) File. This file is produced primarily for states to redraw the boundaries of their various congressional and legislative districts. Tabulations from this file, which are available for areas as small as city blocks, are also useful for planning and analysis in both the government and business sectors.
