Access to the internet via computer or smartphone is an important part of many Americans’ day-to-day lives. This report explores data on computer and internet use in the United States from the 2021 American Community Survey (ACS), focusing on the demographic and geographic variations in these topics. It uses 2021 ACS, 1-year data, but also includes 2017–2021 ACS, 5-year data to provide estimates for smaller geographies and 1-year data from prior years to provide historical estimates related to computer and internet use.
