Tech Companies

Organizations across the country supported the 2020 Census. We regularly featured some of them here, looking at who they are and why an accurate census is so important to them.

Tech Companies

The U.S. Census Bureau is partnering with tech giants to provide information to households across the country, keep the public's data safe, and respond to disinformation before it spreads.

For example, the Census Bureau is partnering with Microsoft to leverage leading practices from their Defending Democracy Program. Or, think about digital assistants like Alexa: the Census Bureau is collaborating with digital "smart" assistant market leaders to help people get accurate census information based on how we get and consume information today.

What will that be like? Try this:

“Alexa, are my census responses confidential?”

Alexa: “Any and all information that you provide in answer to a Census Bureau survey is strictly confidential.”

"Partnerships with big tech companies are enabling the Census Bureau to take advantage of innovative technologies that facilitate awareness, response and security in today’s mobile, digital world."

– Zack Schwartz, deputy division chief of the Census Bureau's Center for New Media and Promotion
