This case study, presented at the 2009 Population Association of America ACS Workshop, defines multi-year estimates, identifies many users having choices as the main issue in choosing between ACS 1-, 3-, and 5-year estimates, and highlights three key concepts:

1. Multiyear estimates are more reliable.
2. Working with data from small population groups.
3. Trade-off between reliability and currency.
