50 Years of Living Without Children: Who and What has Changed

Written by:
Working Paper Number: SEHSD-WP2017-22

Using data from the Current Population Survey ASEC supplement, the current study examines the changes and the stability of persons living without children over a 50-year span. It is important to note that this does not mean these persons are childless, but rather they have no children living with them. We will look at changes over time in the race, education and age composition of persons with no children present as well as comparing them to persons with children. Marital status and living arrangement differences will be compared across time for persons living without children.
