This technical documentation describes a new data release that will aid users of the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC) tax variables. Using linked survey and administrative data, we produce tabulations of several intermediate imputation targets (e.g., filing rates, shares by filing status, numbers of dependents claimed, eligibility for key tax credits) for an array of tax unit types in the 2019 CPS ASEC. Data users can use these tables to improve imputations of tax variables in the public-use 2019 CPS ASEC. However, it is important to note that these intermediate values do not represent sample estimates of U.S. population characteristics.
