2012-2016 ACS 5-year PUMS Files and Additional Documentation

2012-2016 ACS 5-year PUMS files are now available in American FactFinder, the FTP site, and DataFerrett.

Additional PUMS documentation, including the PUMS ReadMe, Accuracy of the PUMS, and PUMS Estimates for User Verification, has been released to help users with the release of the 2012-2016 ACS 5-year PUMS files.

2012-2016 ACS Variance Replicate Estimates Tables

2012-2016 ACS Variance Replicate Estimates Tables are now available through the Variance Replicate Estimates Tables data page and the Census Bureau's FTP site. These tables allow advanced data users to calculate margins of error when collapsing data within a table or across geographies. Supporting documentation was released last week.

Variance Replicate Estimates Tables Documentation is now available to help users prepare for next week's release of the 2012-2016 ACS Variance Replicate Estimates Tables. These tables allow advanced data users to calculate margins of error when collapsing data within a table or across geographies.

2012-2016 ACS 5-year Estimates Released December 7

2012-2016 ACS 5-year estimates are available in American FactFinder and the API.

2012-2016 ACS 5-year estimates are based on data collected from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2016.

2012-2016 ACS 5-year estimates are available for geographic areas down to the census tract and block group levels.

2012-2016 ACS 5-year Narrative Profiles Available

2012-2016 ACS 5-year Narrative Profiles are available for state, county, place, metropolitan/micropolitan statistical area, ZIP Code Tabulation Area, American Indian Area/Alaska Native Area/Hawaiian Home Land and census tract. Narrative Profiles summarize many topics using nontechnical text and graphs. Visit both the ACS Narrative Profiles page and American FactFinder for continuous profile data since 2009.

Updated ACS 5-year and Census 2000 SF3 Table Comparisons

Visit our ACS/Census 2000 Table Comparisons tool to find comparable tables between ACS 5-year estimates and Census 2000 Summary File 3 detailed tables.

Summary File Data

The 2012-2016 ACS 5-year Summary File data on the FTP site are now available. Supporting materials were released last week.

Release Schedule

The 2012-2016 American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates will be released on Thursday, December 7, 2017. These data will be available for all geographic areas including census tracts, ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs), and block groups. The 2012-2016 ACS 5-year PUMS files and 2012-2016 ACS 5-year Variance Replicate Estimates will be released on Thursday, January 18, 2018. 2016 ACS 1-year Supplemental Estimates are available for geographic areas with populations of 20,000 or more.

2016 ACS 1-year PUMS Files and Additional Documentation Released October 19

Release Schedule

The 2016 ACS 1-year estimates will be released on Thursday, September 14, 2017.  These data will be available for the nation, all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, every congressional district, every metropolitan area, and all counties and places with populations of 65,000 or more. The 2016 ACS 1-year Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) files and 2016 ACS 1-year Supplemental Estimates will be released on Thursday, October 19, 2017.
