Discontinuation of ACS 5-Year Comparison Profiles for Congressional Districts

The American Community Survey (ACS) Office will discontinue ACS 5-year Comparison Profiles for Congressional Districts for the 2022 ACS release and beyond due to the use of non-comparable geographic boundaries across comparison periods following redistricting. Redistricting occurs following each decennial census and may occur throughout the decade. These geographic changes make it unfeasible to produce 5-year Comparison Profiles using comparable district boundaries across comparison periods. However, all Congressional Districts meet the 65,000 population threshold to receive ACS 1-year estimates and Comparison Profiles.

Data users should use caution when comparing estimates for congressional districts whenever the comparison periods utilize different district boundaries.
