In Waves 1-4 of the 2014 SIPP Panel, some variables measuring annual program or retirement income receipt are potentially inconsistent with the corresponding monthly indicators of receipt.

Retirement income | ERETANY, ERETTYP1YN-ERETTYP8YN | ERET1MNYN-ERET8MNYN |
Disability income | EDISANY, EDISTYP1YN-EDISTYP10YN | EDIS1MNYN-EDIS10MNYN |

For a small number of cases, respondents may have a value of “yes” for receipt during the reference year but “no” values for all months of the reference year. The monthly data are correct, and the annual indicators were coded in error. In those cases where there is a discrepancy between the two, data users should use the set of monthly variables to determine annual program receipt.
