Data prior to 2021 SIPP incorrectly included foster-care payments on both foster parents’ records when there were two foster parents. In 2021 SIPP data, only one foster parent in the household has payments on their record, specifically the parent that would be in-universe for reporting child care amounts. Data users wanting to find the number of foster parents a child has should use the foster child’s RRELs to identify the number of foster parents.
