Respondents who report an attainment level of less than high school completion (EEDUC < 39) are then asked whether they completed high school by obtaining a GED or other equivalent. The EEDUC values for those who report having completed a GED are updated to 39 (“high school graduate [diploma or GED or equivalent]”).
For 2014 to 2023 SIPP, the attainment allocation flag (AEDUC) for these respondents was updated to correspond with AGED, the flag for RGED, regardless of whether the initial EEDUC value had been reported by respondent or allocated via hot deck imputation (e.g., if AGED = 2, AEDUC = 2). In 2024 SIPP, the attainment allocation flag for these respondents was changed to AEDUC = 3, or logical imputation. This change does not impact the estimates for EEDUC; however, users should expect to see nominally lower rates of AEDUC in (1, 2).
