For each of the four rotations in this wave, incorrect dates were used to determine the date a respondent must have owned a business. These dates were used to decide whether a respondent was eligible for the Value of Business Topical Module. The dates impacted the majority of the Value of Business variables and caused some respondents who should not have been included in the universe for this module, because they no longer owned the business, to be included. Therefore, the data for these respondents was erroneously imputed.
For each of the four rotations in this wave, the module was re-run using the correct dates a respondent must have owned a business. The data was re-released on FERRET.
Due to the re-running of the Value of Business Topical Module described in Problem 1 above, the recode variables THHTNW, THHTWLTH, THHBEQ, THHDEBT, and THHSCDBT were also impacted. These recodes are located within the Real Estate and Shelter Cost Topical Module, and some of the Value of Business Topical Module variables are components of these recodes.
An updated 1996 Panel Wave 9 Real Estate and Shelter Cost Topical Module was released on FERRET to adjust for the recode variables THHTNW, THHTWLTH, THHBEQ, THHDEBT, and THHSCDBT impacted by the Value of Business Topical Module components.
